April 2017 Fundraising Events Across Ontario
LIV Muskoka Silent Auction & Dance in Bracebridge
On April 8th LIV Muskoka in Bracebridge held their second fundraiser in support of Heart of Ruth Mission. We had a silent auction, with items donated from local Muskoka businesses as well as items brought over from Kenya. Then local artist (owner of Muskoka Suds, and super mom) Kasandra Bois sang and played guitar for our guests. The DJ began at 10pm and our supporters danced the night away.
This fundraiser raised from this event go straight towards our transition home project. The transition home will be a home for the children living at Rainbow House who turn 18 and according to Kenyan law, can technically no longer live at a children’s home. By the time the children turn 18, most of them are just entering high school. This is due to their previous living situations. When most children entered Rainbow House they could not even hold a pencil, so many children started their education journey at lower classes than their average age group. We have two children turning 18 by early 2018, so our goal is to have the home completed in January 2018.This home will be built on land across from Rainbow House and we have a budget of $17,000 Canadian dollars for this.
From all of us here at Heart of Ruth Mission, thank you so much for continuously, generously and selflessly supporting our efforts in Kenya! We could not do what we do without you! A big thank you to LIV Muskoka for hosting us again! This fundraiser gets us one step closer to our goal of completing the transition house by January 2018!
Boston Pizza Celebrity Server in Sudbury
On April 12th, 2017 in Sudbury the Boston Pizza held their second Celebrity Server in support of Heart of Ruth Mission! This was our second one and it could not have gone better! Board members and a great friend from the Heart of Ruth served guests at Boston Pizza between 5-8pm. We told guests all about our organization and how 10% of their bills were going towards our projects in Kenya, more specifically about our transition home project. We had a table set up with local items from Kenya and 100% of those proceeds went straight to our projects. Heart of Ruth raised a total of $648.68 on this night and we are so thankful for that! Thank you so much to the Boston Pizza in Sudbury for your continued support! We cannot wait to have another night this summer!
